Even though summer is long gone, we have to admit that occasionally we do secretly crave the soulful barbecue flavours in winter. It just turns out that you can get those smokey flavours in your slow cooker at home with the help of Lapsang Souchong because it is a fantastic and natural alternative to liquid smoke. The party season is just around the corner and these mini pulled pork sliders are a crowd pleaser.

- 2 tsp Love Tea Lapsang Souchong Butterfly Tea in 80ml Water
- 2 kg of Pork Loin
- 120 ml of Whiskey
- 220 g Tomatoe Paste
- 100 g Brown Sugar
- 2 tbsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Salt and 1 tbsp Pepper
- Mini Slider Buns for serving
In a saucepan stir the tomatoe paste, whiskey, 20 ml brewed tea, 50 g brown sugar, 1 tsp paprika. Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat; simmer for about 10 minutes or until the sauce thickens.
In the slow cooker, combine the remaining sugar, paprika, salt and pepper and rub the mixture all over the pork (fat side up).
Pour half of the sauce and the remaining tea into the slow cooker bowl. Cover and cook on low for about 8 – 10 hours until the meat is falling apart. Refrigerate the remainder of the sauce to use for serving.
When the pork is cooked, carefully discard any fat, skin and any excessive liquid. Shred the meat using two forks and serve in mini slider buns with the reserved sauce.
