Traditional Matcha Latte

This month we welcomed a guest recipe by tea lover and Tasting Club member Josette Micallef. Here’s how she used Green Yerba Mate Matcha to make a Matcha Latte.

Have your own recipe? We’d love to hear from you!

Level: Easy    Servings: 1 Latte

  • 1 tsp Love Tea Green Yerba Mate Matcha
  • 1.5 cups unsweetened milk of your choice
  • 1 tsp coconut oil or butter (optional)
  • Mayple syrup (optional)

Bring 1.5 cups of unsweetened milk of your choice (almond, cashew, coconut or hemp milk are great) to a bare simmer in a small pot over medium-high heat. Optional: melt one teaspooon coconut oil or butter in the milk. Turn the heat off.

Add one teaspoon matcha to a mug and slowly whisk in 2 teaspoons of the hot milk (use a regular whisk, a special bamboo matcha whisk or a milk frother – more information here) to form a paste. Add the rest of the warm milk, tipping cup slightly to help create foam. Sweeten with mayple syrup, honey or coconut sugar to taste.
